Meet the Teacher
Karissa is a certified yoga and meditation teacher. She studied Hatha yoga at Gyan Yoga in Toronto and has strong roots in this style. She believes that attaining bodily alignment through a safe yoga practice can aid in healing all traumas emotionally and physically. Karissa received her meditation certification from Lifestyle Meditation with Mandy Trapp in Vancouver. Her philosophy for teaching is simple - teach with love, empathy, patience and humility.
A flowing class with a combination of stretching and strengthening poses. The class begins with gentle movement, gradually builds up the intensity and ends off with deep stretching and meditation to release any remaining tension in the body. This class is suitable for all levels as there are modifications available for each pose.
In this class, basic postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion through the foundation poses of yoga.
This class serves to strengthen and lengthen the body in a creative way. Through a vinyasa style flow we practice energizing and engaging standing poses that allow us to harness our strength. We also focus on opening areas that naturally get tight from exercise by including twists, backbends and forward folds. This is a great class to find your inner strength both physically and mentally.
This class is the perfect midday energizer. This 45 minute vinyasa flow will lift your mood, strengthen your body and calm your mind.
MOVE & BE MINDFUL
This class is the perfect balance of yin and yang movements. The class begins with strengthening and toning vinyasa poses and cools off with relaxing and meditative yin poses. Our move & be mindful class is the perfect way to end an evening as it includes poses that encourage a restful sleep.
